PSI Magnet (Japanese: サイマグネット PSI Magnet) is a PSI technique, introduced in EarthBound Beginnings and appearing in all three EarthBound series games. It siphons PP from an enemy, recovering the user's PP slightly. PSI Magnet is learned by Ana in EarthBound Beginnings, Paula and Poo in EarthBound, and Kumatora in Mother 3.
Effect
PSI Magnet drains a certain amount of PP from the target and gives said amount of PP to the one who used it. PSI Magnet is the only PSI move which does not require PP to be used. In EarthBound Beginnings PSI Magnet always takes 10 PP away from one target. Later games reduced the amount to 2-8 PP taken from a target. To compensate, PSI Magnet now has an α and Ω level. PSI Magnet α takes PP from one target, while Ω takes PP from all opponents.

In the Super Smash Bros. series
This is used by both Ness and Lucas as their down special attack. It forms a psychic field around the user that absorbs most energy-based attacks, replenishing the character's health to double of the damage that attack would have dealt. It also slows down the user if used in mid-air. In Ultimate its aesthetics have been updated to resemble its appearances in the EarthBound series. Like their other PSI attacks, Ness and Lucas could not learn PSI Magnet in their games and is said that Paula, Poo, and Kumatora taught them how to use it in the Super Smash Bros. games.
Ness
Ness's variant puts a forcefield around himself to absorb energy-based projectiles to heal himself. This gives him an advantage against fighters who primarily use energy-based, however the long startup in Super Smash Bros., and long endlag in Melee, made it difficult to be put to practical use. Its usage was improved starting with Brawl due to the startup and endlag being reduced, as well as increasing its size. In Ultimate it also gained a damaging hitbox which deals minor damage when opponents get close to it.
Lucas
Lucas's variant instead puts the forcefield in front of him allowing him to absorb attacks that are farther away in front of him. However it leaves him vulnerable to projectiles behind him (however in Brawl Lucas will automatically turn around should a projectile come from behind). Lucas's version also deals damage and minor knockback upon disappearing allowing it to have more offensive usages as opposed to Ness's version which is strictly defensive prior to Ultimate.
Customs
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Ness has two extra variants as custom special moves.
- PSI Vaccume: The forcefield brings opponents close to him, then releasing B will cause a flash damaging opponents within its range.
- Forward PSI Magnet: Functions identically to Lucas's.
Due to Lucas's status as a downloadable character, he does not have custom variants of PSI Magnet.

Trivia
- PSI Magnet is the only psychic move used by Ness and Lucas in the Super Smash Bros. series that isn't referred to by the word PK. It is also the only psychic move where they don't say its name in the series.
- In Super Smash Bros., level 5 or higher CPUs will almost never attempt to use a Fire Flower on Ness, because of PSI Magnet. This is also the case with Fox and his Reflector.
