This is a list of key items in EarthBound.
ATM Card
The ATM card(Japanese キャッシュカード) is a card that Ness can use to withdraw or deposit money from an ATM. It is in Ness's inventory at the start of the game.
Backstage Pass
A Backstage pass(Japanese バックステージパス) can be obtained from the Runaway Five in Twoson after Ness saves Paula. It allows entrance to the backstage room of the Chaos Theater so that Ness may pay off the Runaway Five's debt using the Wad of bills.
Bad key machine
The Bad key machine (Japanese ちょっとカギマシン, short for Machine that opens doors especially when you have a slightly bad key) is obtained from Maxwell to open the lockers in the Snow Wood Boarding School. It can open any door, and is used to escape the underground area in Threed. After this usage, it breaks.
Bicycle
The Bicycle(Japanese じてんしゃ) can be obtained at the Twoson Bicycle Shop. It allows for faster travel when only Ness is in the party. If Ness is holding a Teddy Bear, he can not ride the bike.
Brain stone
The Brain stone (Japanese さとりのいし)is in Poo's inventory from the first time he is controlled. It prevents loss of concentration
Carrot key
The Carrot key (Japanese うさぎごのみニンジン) is found in a present at Magnet Hill. It erases the rabbit statues blocking the path to the Pink Cloud cave.
Contact lens
A Contact lens (Japanese コンタクトレンズ) can be found in Dusty Dunes Desert. It can be traded with a man in Fourside for a pair of dirty socks.
Diamond
A Diamond (Japanese ダイヤモンド) is obtained from George Montague on the roadway outside of Fourside after clearing out the Guardian Diggers in the Gold Mine. It is used to pay off the debt of the Runaway Five at the Topolla Theater by giving it to Miss Fake.
Eraser eraser
The Eraser eraser (Japanese こけしけしマシン) is obtained from Apple Kid's mouse at Dr. Andonuts lab. It erases the eraser statue blocking the underground path below Stonehenge.
Franklin Badge
The Franklin badge (Japanese フランクリンバッジ) is given to Ness by Paula before he faces Mr. Carpainter. It reflects all lightning based attacks.
Hawk eye
The Hawk eye (Japanese フランクリンバッジ) is found inside the Pyramid. It allows the party to see in Deep Darkness.

The Hieroglyph copy (Japanese ヒエログリフのうつし) is obtained in the Summers Museum. It teaches Ness's party the dance required to enter the pyramid in Scaraba.
Jar of Fly Honey
A Jar of Fly Honey (Japanese はえみつ) is found in a garbage can in Threed after defeating the Boogey Tent in Threed. It distracts Master Belch in battle, and is the only way to defeat him.
