Peaceful Rest Valley is a location in EarthBound connecting Twoson to Happy Happy Village. Its name in the Japanese version is "Grateful Dead Valley," which was altered in localization to avoid legal issues with the band after which it was named. Ironically, this area can be difficult to traverse due to the enemies giving status ailments or exploding upon defeat.
The first time the player passes trough here, a bridge near the entrance will be broken, forcing the player to take an alternate path where a strange, pencil-shaped object will be blocking the road. This forces the player to backtrack to Twoson, where, upon arriving, Apple Kid will invent the pencil eraser to remove the obstacle and allow entry to Happy Happy Village.
After rescuing Paula, the bridge will be fixed, making a more straightforward path between Happy Happy Village and Twoson.
