Lucas lives in the southern portion of Tazmily Village with his twin brother Claus, father Flint, mother Hinawa, and their dog Boney. Lucas is the younger twin brother and thus is the youngest in his family. His favorite food is Omelets. He is close with his family, primarily, although he does know the other villagers fairly well. He also loves his dog, Boney, and goes out playing and taking walks with him often. Additionally he's also a late riser as shown in the prologue.

He also loves his dog, Boney, and goes out playing and taking walks with him often. Additionally he's also a late riser as shown in the prologue.

Lucas's personality differs depending on the part of the game. At the beginning of the game, Lucas is shown to be a kind and honest boy, although he is also the more timid of the twins. He is seen as being shy and coddled, sometimes shown to be nervous at times, but despite this he enjoys to play.
Compared to his energetic brother Claus, Lucas's personality is more laid-back. He is a kind and honest boy, which is noted by Alec to be how Flint had raised him. He is also the more timid of the twins. He is seen as being shy and coddled, sometimes shown to be nervous at times, but despite this he enjoys to play.

During the events of Chapter 1, Lucas is also shown to be weak and very emotional. After the death of Hinawa and disappearance of Claus, Lucas is visibly distraught, and struggles to cope with the losses that he's so abruptly had to endure, to the point where he earns the reputation of being a "crybaby". Duster describes Lucas's feelings as if "his poor little heart is about to break in two". Lucas becomes very shut in, refusing to leave his home after Hinawa's funeral and being unable to sleep. In Chapter 2, he's shown to struggle with guilt due to the disappearance of Claus, as he wishes he had gone with him. At the end of Chapter 3, Lucas finally shows his strength when he hurries to rescue Kumatora, Salsa and Wess from the Pigmasks by calling a Drago to smash their tanks. He learns about the current situation of Tazmily Village, which combined with the losses he endured, he begins to become stronger and mature.
Lucas, however, is also shown to be weak and very emotional during the events of Chapter 1. Lucas is visibly the most heartbroken after the death of Hinawa to the point where he earned the reputation of being a "crybaby". Lucas began to struggle with guilt after being lectured by Alec for letting Claud go alone into the mountains to avenge Hinawa. Throughout the following chapters, Lucas becomes very shut in, refusing to leave his home after Hinawa's funeral and Claus's disappearance, being unable to sleep.

When Lucas has grown up three years later, his personality is different. He is strong, determined, and resourceful, however he is still kind and cares for his family and townsfolk. He still occasionally visits Hinawa's grave, which shows he still misses her, and this is further implemented in Chapter 6 where he tries to reach Hinawa in the sunflower field. He is also somewhat rebellious, as during the three years he refuses to buy a Happy Box. Lucas also shows self-esteem, as a few residents of Tazmily treat him crudely due to his refusal to buy a Happy Box, however Lucas doesn't let this get the better of him. Lucas admits to Kumatora in Chapter 4 that he still wants to become stronger. Following this, he teams up with Duster and Kumatora and bravely pursues any task that comes his way, no matter how frightening it is.

He still occasionally visits Hinawa's grave, which shows he still misses her, and this is further implemented in Chapter 6 where he tries to reach Hinawa in the sunflower field. Lucas's self-esteem is shown to have grown as he is one of the few resudents who refuses to purchase a Happy Box due to his awareness of the current situation, and pays no attention to several residents who treat him unfavorably due to his refusal. Lucas, however, admits to Kumatora in Chapter 4 that he still wants to become stronger. Throughout the rest of the game, several of his friends take notice of his personality growth and describe that he is not the same as he was three years ago, which is especially apparent in the Saturn Valley coffee scene which shows that Lucas has grown strong enough to help those he otherwise couldn't in the past.

Lucas is described as becoming "more and more gallant" throughout the remaining chapters. Nippolyte even claims that Lucas has "grown so strong that Flint doesn't need to worry anymore", and has "grown up to be a truly good lad.".
However Lucas still displays glimpses of himself from prior to Chapter 4. He still shows his love for his family, and is still seen to become emotional, as he is stated to want to cry during the final battle with the brainwashed Claus. Nevertheless Lucas has still became a kind, resilient, and brave boy and fights through the odds up to the very end.
