Opinions

  • On the tabber'd navbox up there? It's a step up from the one we have right now, but I'm still kinda iffy on it for something I can't put my finger on. Any other opinions? →Tinā δ 19:19, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
I don't like it. For starters, the template wouldn't link to actual place articles. Miles (talk) 20:00, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
Does the template need links to the locations? I mean, it's called "Enemies in EarthBound", not "Locations and Enemies in EarthBound". Tacopill 16:30, 31 August 2011 (EDT).
Thing is, links to locations would make things a bit easier. It's main purpose is to list enemies, yes, but it's also fairly convenient to access location pages from there too. →Tinā δ 16:44, 31 August 2011 (EDT)
It looks soooo pretty, though... Heheh... Anyway, yeah, linking directly to the locations is incredibly useful, especially when doing something like JP translations... I can jump from page to page so much easier... so I'm gonna have to say no :/ Now if only we can tab M3 enemy sprites, I'd approve that in an instant!! Multus 22:55, 31 August 2011 (EDT)
I am very very very opposed to using the tabber on this template. It is not aesthetically pleasing whatsoever; it's simply too wide, too redundant, and too clunky. Miles (talk) 21:51, 7 March 2012 (EST)
Actually, Tina liked this thing, and was gonna discuss ideas for an M3 one like it later. Tacopill actually helped me implement it. So, I believe there was approval. Still, you are welcome to state your opinion and we'll discuss the possibilities. AquaAzure 22:03, 7 March 2012 (EST)
Alright, made it less wide. Does it look better? Tacopill 22:36, 7 March 2012 (EST)
It just feels too large as a result of showing multiple sections by default which cannot be shut. Miles (talk) 23:32, 7 March 2012 (EST)
would breaking up into multiple templates help? Tacopill 12:54, 8 March 2012 (EST)
I don't think so. I'm just failing to see why this is in any way an improvement over the current setup. Miles (talk) 13:47, 8 March 2012 (EST)
First, the current template is really tall and thin, while this one is shorter and wider. This way, it doesn't waste space. Second, the interior of the current one is simple and bland, while this has colors. AquaAzure 17:17, 8 March 2012 (EST)
Also, in my opinion, the current template is rather disorganized and looks like a giant column... to put it nicely. With tabs, it takes up less vertical space, looks more organized and a few other things. But that may just be my opinion. Tacopill 18:18, 8 March 2012 (EST).
The combined horizontal and vertical scanning one has to do to find one's way around the template is visually distracting to me.
I'm sorry if it feels like I'm just arguing, but this version of the template is really not as intuitive or aesthetically pleasing as the current one in my opinion. Miles (talk) 18:53, 8 March 2012 (EST)
It is Ok. You are entitled to your opinion. Tacopill 19:33, 8 March 2012 (EST).
Aight, time to give my opinion on this template now that I'm not distracted or anything. (Took a couple days. I'm sorry for the delay!)
Man, though, this template sure is really huge. I think it's a slight step up from the current one, but it's still absolutely massive. Miles brings up a good point, though. I do think it's easier to find things on the current one- since it's just vertical, one can go "oh, okay, just gotta think in the order of the game and.. there's the location I want". While with this version, one's eyes dance all over the page trying to find the location they need. Now that I think about it, it is pretty distracting!
On the other hand, I do love the smooth look of the tabs. It's so pretty and matches the template style so well! (We need to remember that it exists more often. Soooo niice.) But maybe it's not the best thing for this situation? For this template, I think it may end up being best to do the show/hide thing, and implement a scrollbar or something so it doesn't rival Leder in length. Would that be a decent idea? I just feel like it's a little weird to have the page grow so... tall so suddenly.
I feel pretty bad that I didn't really say anything while you were slaving away trying to get the tabs to work, AquaAzure! :( I'm just not sure if using tabs would be a good choice in the end, thinking about it more. →Tinā δ 03:27, 9 March 2012 (EST)
Scrollbar'd version below... the only (minor) complaint I have with the scrollbar method is that the actual scrollbar itself doesn't like roundycorners. Multus 04:15, 9 March 2012 (EST)
That I am more okay with! We probably don't even need the show/hide thing to toggle the entire template being shown, now do we. I dunno, it just seems a little unnecessary to click that extra button to just see everything when it's compact in the first place. I think I might have an idea on how to fix that scrollbar, though... →Tinā δ 13:25, 9 March 2012 (EST)
*thumbs up.* That looks much nicer. Oh, yeah, another thing. Do we need to scroll Mother 1's or not? It's... medium-length, so... Multus 15:36, 9 March 2012 (EST)
Yeah, I don't think M1 needs the scrollbar. While we're talking about the other templates, I feel like the M3 one might want some reorganizing? I'm on the fence about that, though. What do you guys think about it? Should we keep organizing by chapter on that one, or split it up into locations for consistency? :U →Tinā δ 18:24, 9 March 2012 (EST)

I much prefer the scrollbar to the tabber here. As for the M3 template, Tina, I always thought it was neater to sort by chapter; I only sorted the M1 and EB enemies by location because there wasn't as obvious of a way to separate them like that. Miles (talk) 18:36, 9 March 2012 (EST)

Yeah, that's probably how I would have done it, too. Hmm... on the subject of Mother 1, the things like the Yucca Desert section stretch the template out, and the scrollbar fixes that, so it might still be a good thing to scrollbar it. Oh, offtopic here, but can we clean up the sections of the sandbox like the item lists that aren't needed anymore? :P Lotsa scrolling. Multus 01:46, 10 March 2012 (EST)
Chapter it is! I just thought I would double-check on that while we were discussing enemy templates. Also, as far as the M1 template- might as well! :B Should all of them have scrollbars for consistency, then? Or just M1/EB? Also, shall we implement this new template now? I just want to make sure that everything's good and we all agree on this. :D
Also, yeah, I'll go ahead and clean out the things in the sandbox that aren't needed anymore. →Tinā δ 20:17, 10 March 2012 (EST)
Running into a new problem with Mother 1, and I have NO idea why.
It works perfectly fine on my school computer, but not my home computer, even without the scrollbar. I guess because it has some really huge sections and some minuscule sections with the way it is organized, the long sections stretch it out. But, the other enemy templates don't do it; just Mother 1's, and I have no idea why, because as far as I can tell, they're formatted identically. Multus 20:42, 10 March 2012 (EST)
Okay, the demo below proves that... Mother 3 will only work if we made it wider. Multus 21:40, 10 March 2012 (EST)

I think my preference is the second option, since the rounded corners don't go through the sprite in the bottom-most corner. However, if the first was amended to remove that problem, either would be fine with me. Miles (talk) 21:50, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
