Baseball bats are used as weapons in all of the EarthBound games, primarily in the first and second games. They are mainly used by Ninten and Ness, and occasionally Lucas. Their main purpose is to increase a character's Offense, although some bats have additional effects.

In EarthBound Beginnings

The baseball bats in EarthBound Beginnings are equippable items that only are usable by Ninten. There is a total of four different bats that can be obtained throughout the game, with varying Offense increasing values.

Plastic Bat

PlasticBatEncyclopedia.png

The Plastic Bat (ボロのバット Worn-Out Bat) is the weakest offense-affecting equipment in the game, only increasing Ninten's offense by 3. It can be purchased for $80 in the department store of Podunk; it can otherwise be found in presents in the basement of Ninten's house, in the northwestern portion of Sweet's Little Factory, and in the second classroom from the right on the second floor of Twinkle Elementary School.

Its Japanese name matches that of the Cracked bat from EarthBound.

In-game description

"This weapon is OK for Ninten. USE it!"

Wooden Bat

WoodenBatEncyclopedia.png

The Wooden Bat (ふつうのバット Ordinary Bat) increases Ninten's offense by 12 when equipped. It can be purchased for $500 in the department stores of Podunk and Merrysville.

Its Japanese name matches that of the Tee ball bat from EarthBound.

In-game description

"Ninten, USE this weapon to fight with weak enemies."

Aluminum Bat

AluminumBatEncyclopedia.png

The Aluminum Bat, abbreviated in-game to AluminumBat, (いいバット Good Bat) increases Ninten's offense by 30 when equipped. It can be purchased for $1000 in the department stores of Merrysville and Reindeer.

Its Japanese name matches that of the Sand lot bat from EarthBound.

In-game description

"With this weapon Ninten can easily fight tougher enemies."

Hank's Bat

HanksBatEncyclopedia.png

Hank's Bat (さいこうのバット Supreme Bat) is Ninten's best offense-affecting equipment, increasing his offense by 48. It can only be obtained from a present in the maze-like caves of Mt. Itoi, where Ana's and Teddy's most powerful offense-increasing items coincidentally also are found, being the Iron Skillet and Katana, respectively. If Hank's Bat would get confiscated by the police in Ellay, it can be rebought for $1400 from a policeman in the city's police station.

Its Japanese name matches that of the Hall of fame bat from EarthBound.

In-game description

"This awesome bat was personally autographed."
