Mr. Carpainter is a character from EarthBound. Mr. Carpainter first appears when Ness comes to Happy Happy Village. He tells Ness about the village, and allows him to stay in it for $50. Another requirement is the conversion to Happy-happyism. Ness stays in his village for some time, until he finds Paula imprisoned in a house on the other side of the cave. She tells him that Mr. Carpainter imprisoned her in a prison in the house. He agrees to free her by getting the key from Carpainter. Mr. Carpainter can then be found in a building in the village, in a room after the one that contains a large amount of his followers. He must now be fought. After being defeated, Mr. Carpainter apologizes for his behavior. He explains that he acted the way he did because he was being controlled by the Mani-Mani Statue, which can be found behind him. At this point, he gives Ness the key and abolishes his religion.
