Pippi is a young girl living in Podunk in Mother. She gets lost in the graveyard and Ninten is asked to rescue her from the various ghosts and zombies lurking in the graveyard. After finding her, she accompanies Ninten for a short time until he takes her back to the mayor's office. While she's traveling with Ninten, she can be controlled in combat, and can even be equipped with items. Pippi gives Ninten one of two Franklin Badges in the game.
She makes a second appearance in the swamp on the way to Ellay, residing in a house. Ninten and his friends can rest at the house for recovery.
For clarity, the player cannot name a character Pippi. Pippi is the only party member who the player cannot name at the start of the game that has a status bar. Her last name may be the same as her mother's: Lindgren.
Trivia
- Besides PP and speed, Pippi outranks Ninten in every stat, so many players hold on to her for as long as possible.
- An unused enemy sprite in Mother seems to resemble Pippi, for unknown reasons.
- Pippi is an obvious reference to Pippi Longstocking, as they've got the same name, same hair design and both seem to wear unusually long socks.[1]
