This is an odd case considering we're working with two separate translations, but for things like enemy and character templates, would it be okay to have a separate section for the M1+2 Fan Translation names? I think it's somewhat important since the translation is being played more often than the prototype nowadays, and quite a few names are different/taken from EarthBound. ::I'm a bit wishy-washy on that now though, since it's been used more than the prototype. I mean, I don't think we should change the content of the articles themselves, but what I do think we should do is do sort of like what we do with the PSI moves and have a smaller section below the normal name for the Mother 1+2 names (ex:[[Offense Up]]), or on [[WikiBound:Nomenclature]] have a table or chart something like this, maybe as a subpage(or a subpage on [[Mother 1+2 fan translation]]):

:::I'd think this would be a very useful table either on this page or on a subpage of this; however, since the EB0 prototype was commissioned by NoA, I think it is the closest thing the English-speaking world will ever have to an "official" version of Mother 1. The only reason that the Mother 3 fan translation is used here as the "canon" version is because there isn't an official NoA-commissioned or NoA-released version. Easy Ring

Should an article be created for this? I mean we could put template:noncanon on it or something. Meh... I don't know, though... Multus 23:46, 2 September 2011 (EDT)

I'd personally have it noted somewhere in this article instead, seeing as it is fanon after all. Sun Braid 05:06, 3 September 2011 (EDT)

Enemy/Character names

This is an odd case considering we're working with two separate translations, but for things like enemy and character templates, would it be okay to have a separate section for the M1+2 Fan Translation names? I think it's somewhat important since the translation is being played more often than the prototype nowadays, and quite a few names are different/taken from EarthBound. Multus (talk) 13:14, 13 August 2012 (EDT)

I thought we resolved this with WikiBound:Nomenclature? The understanding I had was that the M1+2 fan translation terms were to be redirects only. Miles (talk) 18:05, 13 August 2012 (EDT)
I'm a bit wishy-washy on that now though, since it's been used more than the prototype. I mean, I don't think we should change the content of the articles themselves, but what I do think we should do is do sort of like what we do with the PSI moves and have a smaller section below the normal name for the Mother 1+2 names (ex:Offense Up), or on WikiBound:Nomenclature have a table or chart something like this, maybe as a subpage(or a subpage on Mother 1+2 fan translation):
Translation Guide
Enemies
English Prototype Mother 1+2 Fan Translation Original Japanese
Lamp Lamp でんきスタンド
Desk Lamp
Doll Doll にんぎょう
Doll
Rat Rat ねずみ
Rat
Something Something else Some kana or whatever
Something else
I dunno, the canonocity with Mother 1 is somewhat of a gray area, which makes it difficult, but that's my two cents. I DO think a chart comparing the names should go somewhere. Multus (talk) 01:42, 14 August 2012 (EDT)
I'd think this would be a very useful table either on this page or on a subpage of this; however, since the EB0 prototype was commissioned by NoA, I think it is the closest thing the English-speaking world will ever have to an "official" version of Mother 1. The only reason that the Mother 3 fan translation is used here as the "canon" version is because there isn't an official NoA-commissioned or NoA-released version.
