Pigmasks are the basic soldiers that make up the Pigmask Army in Mother 3. They are first seen at the beginning of Chapter 1 when they use fireflies to set the Sunshine Forest on fire. They later appear as fightable enemies in Chapter 2. Throughout most of the game they are NPCs who won't fight.
